Wallpaper Carousel, called Glance on some builds, changes your lock-screen wallpaper automatically and shows card notifications. You can remove it by turning off Wallpaper Carousel in Lock screen settings and disabling its notifications. This stops rotation and cards without deleting your wallpapers, does not require uninstalling Glance, and is fully reversible. Clearing lock-screen cache alone does not stop it — the toggle that controls the carousel must be switched off. The name and exact row differ by region: Global and EEA show Wallpaper Carousel, India shows Glance for Mi, but the switch controls the same service.

If you installed a third-party lock-screen app, check that you are back on the default System lock screen first. Wallpaper Carousel is managed by the system and does not run on custom lock screens, which is why its toggle can appear missing.

HyperOS re-enables lock-screen extras after a major OTA. Wallpaper Carousel on Global and India builds is tied to Glance; on EEA it appears as Wallpaper Carousel only. Both names control the same background rotation. On POCO X6 Pro India HyperOS 3.1 the setting sits under Always-on Display & Lock screen → Glance for Mi, while on Xiaomi 14 Global HyperOS 3 it is directly under Lock screen → Wallpaper Carousel. The service restarts on reboot even if you cleared its cache, which is why a cache clear alone does not help.

This is not the same as Always-on Display, which is a separate OLED feature. Disabling Carousel does not affect AOD, and disabling AOD does not stop Carousel. Users sometimes turn off AOD hoping to stop wallpaper changes, but the two are controlled from different screens and must be changed separately.

Use only official Settings. No third-party remover or unknown APK is needed, and removing the system component with ADB can break wallpaper updates.

Turning Wallpaper Carousel off stops the scheduled download of new images. Disabling its notifications stops the card alerts that look like ads. Do both so the lock screen stays on the photo you chose and no carousel cards appear.

  1. Open Settings → Lock screen. Look for Wallpaper Carousel and switch it Off. On HyperOS 3.1 India builds, the same item is Settings → Always-on Display & Lock screen → Glance for Mi → Off. If you see Glance for Mi, that is the same toggle under the India name.

  2. Stay in Settings and go to Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Show system apps → Wallpaper Carousel (search Wallpaper Carousel in Settings search if you cannot find it, or search Glance on India builds). Tap Notifications and turn them Off. This stops the card notifications that can look like promoted content.

  3. Return to Settings → Wallpaper → Lock screen wallpaper and pick the photo you want to keep. After turning Carousel off, the current image stays until you change it manually. Set one favorite so the lock screen does not fall back to a bland default.

  4. Lock the phone with the side key, wait ten seconds, then wake it. The wallpaper should no longer change on each wake. Check after a reboot as well — the toggle survives reboot on Global and EEA builds; on a few India builds you may need to toggle it Off a second time after the first reboot.

Note

If you cannot find Wallpaper Carousel, type Wallpaper Carousel or Glance in the top Settings search bar. On POCO builds it is nested under Lock screen & wallpaper rather than a separate row.

If the toggle is missing or turns back on

If the toggle is not visible, or it returns to On after an update, the system app may need a one-time refresh rather than a reinstall.

  • POCO hidden row. On POCO X6 Pro the row is under Settings → Always-on Display & Lock screen, not under plain Lock screen. Search for Glance to surface it directly.

  • GetApps restoring it. On a few Global builds, an automatic Wallpaper Carousel update from GetApps re-enables it. After updating the app, re-open the same toggle and set it Off again — it holds after the second save.

  • Custom lock screen active. If you use a third-party lock screen, the system hides the Carousel toggle. Set the default lock screen back to System lock screen in Settings → Wallpaper → Lock screen and the toggle reappears.

Device and version differences

Wallpaper Carousel and Glance are the same feature on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO on HyperOS 3 and 3.1. Only the label and parent menu differ, not the behavior. The table shows the confirmed variation.

HyperOS 3.1 keeps the same control. If your menu shows Glance, treat it as Wallpaper Carousel — the Off action is identical.

DeviceHyperOSPath difference
Xiaomi 14 (Global)3Lock screen → Wallpaper Carousel → Off — Direct row
Redmi Note 13 Pro (India)3.1Always-on Display & Lock screen → Glance for Mi → Off — India name
POCO X6 Pro (Global)3.1Always-on Display & Lock screen → Wallpaper Carousel → Off — Nested row

Do not switch region to find a different label. The Off action works in your current region, and region changes can delay future OTAs.

Frequently asked questions

Will turning it off delete my wallpapers?

No. Your current lock-screen photo stays. Only automatic rotation stops. You can pick a new wallpaper in Settings → Wallpaper at any time.

Why can't I find Wallpaper Carousel on POCO?

On some POCO builds it is under Settings → Always-on Display & Lock screen → Glance for Mi. Search Settings for Wallpaper Carousel to surface it.

Do I need to uninstall Glance?

No. Turning the toggle Off is enough and is reversible. Uninstalling system components with ADB can break lock-screen updates.

Will this affect Always-on Display?

No. Always-on Display is a separate setting. Disabling Wallpaper Carousel only stops lock-screen image changes.
