Needs verification

This guide is for an update-related flow and has not been re-checked in the last 60 days. Treat version numbers and release dates as “needs verification” until you see Settings → About phone → OS version on your own device. Do not download firmware from unknown sites.

Before you continue — risk of data loss

This guide includes steps that can change notifications, reset settings or change region. Back up chats to Google Drive and keep your Mi Account password handy. Try safer alternatives first (described below). Do not proceed on low battery.

HyperOS updates in India appear in staged batches, not for all eligible phones at once. If your Redmi, POCO or Xiaomi shows no update, the first check is eligibility: is your exact model on the confirmed eligible list for India, not just on a leaked list. The second check is region: your phone should stay on India region (INXM builds) to receive the correct OTA — switching to Global does not unlock a faster build and can hide the later India OTA. If you are eligible and on the correct region, freeing 6 GB, clearing Updater cache and retrying on Wi-Fi covers the technical checks before you simply wait for your batch. Last checked: 2026-03-28.

A common mistake is to download a Global ROM manually when the India OTA has not yet reached your IMEI batch. Global and India builds differ in modem and dialer handling, and a sideloaded Global package on an India device can require a later re-flash. The steps below use only the official Updater and keep your region unchanged.

Why India batches feel late

Xiaomi staggers India OTAs after Global and EEA by device and by IMEI batch within the same model. Two identical Redmi Note 13 Pro phones on the same carrier in India can receive HyperOS 3 a week apart, even when both are on the same current build. The updater also pauses the check if storage is below 5 GB or Battery saver is limiting background work, which can make a staged delay look like a missing OTA.

This is not the same as a missing eligibility. An eligible device will show the OTA within the rollout window for its batch; a non-eligible device will not show it regardless of retries. The difference is visible only in the confirmed list. Leaked eligibility lists often copy Global models that are not yet confirmed for India, which is why we mark our list as pending confirmation until c.mi.com/in publishes the India build. Do not treat a leaked list as confirmed.

A second cause of confusion is the Updater cache. After a failed check, the Updater can hold a stale result that keeps showing “No update available” even when your batch has just been enabled. Clearing the cache forces a fresh check, which is why the same steps that fix a 0 percent stall also help here.

Steps to check eligibility, region and rollout before waiting

Do these in order. This separates a non-eligible device, a region mismatch and a staged delay from a technical stall.

Confirm eligibility before retrying, then keep the correct region and do the technical checks. This order avoids repeatedly clearing cache for a device that is not yet eligible, which would not change the result. Use only Settings and official pages.

  1. Open Settings → About phone → OS version and note your current build, Android version and region. India builds show INXM in the build number; Global shows MIXM, EEA shows EUXM. Stay on India if your device was purchased in India.

  2. Compare your model with the confirmed list linked from the HyperOS 3 hub and HyperOS 3 eligible devices guide. Only devices listed as confirmed with a c.mi.com source will receive the OTA in India. If yours is not listed, it is not yet eligible — checking every hour will not change that. Note the last checked date: 2026-03-28.

  3. If eligible, free at least 6 GB in Settings → Storage by removing large videos or offline maps. Low storage makes the Updater skip the check and keep showing no update, similar to the 0 percent stall.

  4. Connect to stable Wi-Fi, turn off Data Saver in Settings → SIM & network → Data Saver, and open Settings → About phone → System update → Check for updates. Tap it twice with 30 seconds between taps to force a fresh query. If nothing appears and you are eligible, wait — staged batches in India roll at about 10–20 percent per day.

Note

India HyperOS 3.1 builds are still rolling on Android 16 base. A few early videos show Super Island or recent-apps features that are labelled reported until c.mi.com/in confirms them for India — do not treat video-only claims as confirmed.

If the device is eligible but still shows no update

If you are on the confirmed list, stay on India region and do the technical retry before assuming a longer delay.

  • Clear Updater cache. Go to Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Show system apps → Updater → Storage → Clear cache (not Clear data). Retry Check for updates on Wi-Fi. If two cache clears do not help, see the companion guide HyperOS Update Stuck at 0 percent — the same cache and storage steps fix both symptoms.

  • Check batch timing. India batches can take 7 to 14 days from the first Global batch for the same model. If a friend on the same model already got it, your IMEI batch may simply be later in the 10–20 percent schedule.

  • Do not sideload. Do not download a Global ROM from a third-party site when the India OTA has not reached you. Global and India builds differ in modem configuration and call-recording handling; a mismatched sideload often needs a later factory reset to correct.

Device and version differences

Eligibility and batch behavior are the same across Redmi, POCO and Xiaomi on HyperOS 3 and 3.1, but the build suffix and rollout order differ. The table shows the confirmed variation.

HyperOS 3.1 on Android 16 follows the same staged rollout. The eligible list for 3.1 is separate from 3 — a device eligible for 3 may be later for 3.1. Check the 3.1 hub for its own confirmed list.

POCO F6 (India)3Build INXM · India batch after EEA — Global/EEA first

Keep the region set to the one where you bought the phone. Switching to Global to get an earlier build can make the India OTA hide later and can affect dialer recording behavior in India.

Frequently asked questions

Should I switch region to Global to get it sooner?

No. Region switching can hide future OTAs and break eSIM or dialer handling in India. Keep India region and wait for your batch after confirming eligibility.

How do I know if my device is eligible for HyperOS 3?

Check the confirmed eligible list on the HyperOS 3 hub — only devices listed as confirmed with a c.mi.com source will receive the OTA. If yours is not listed, it is not yet eligible.

How long should I wait after my friend got it?

Two identical India devices can receive the OTA a week apart due to staged 10–20 percent batches. Waiting 7–14 days is normal if you are eligible.

Will clearing Updater cache help?

Yes, if you are eligible but the check shows nothing. Clear Updater cache and retry on Wi-Fi — see the update stuck at 0 percent guide for the same steps.
